The Expendables 2 is a 2010 American action film co-written and directed by Sylvester Stallone. The second installment of The Expendables film series, and the sequel to The Expendables (2010), it features a reunion of several action stars from the original film. It was theatrically released in August 2010, and was a critical and commercial success, grossing $340 million worldwide. It was nominated for several awards, including five Academy Awards; it won Best Sound Editing at the 82nd Academy Awards. The film's production used several long-time collaborators of Stallone's, including producer Avi Lerner, production designer Walter M. Chote and special effects supervisor Bill Westenhofer, as well as others from the original film. The first trailer was shown at the 2011 Comic-Con in San Diego, California. The film was released on Blu-ray and DVD on October 26, 2010.
